The inability to complete assignments, lack of organization and talking excessively are also common symptoms. It is easy to understand why this behavior is often interpreted as plain old poor performance.

March ADD Symptom News

School behaviors are becoming more and more violent. Those who are instigating these events often have symptoms of ADD or other disorders. An ADD symptom can become very pronounced in structured school life.

Responding to School Violence
The most intensive level of intervention is that of tertiary prevention, which provides assistance for those individuals who are showing fully developed symptoms of academic, behavioral or emotional disorders.
The rhythm of our body may dictate if we experience an ADD Symptom. This research has been done on mice to replace the a gene that controls this.

Manic depression may be a rhythm thing
In a series of behavioural tests, these mice displayed symptoms eerily reminiscent of human mania - such as reduced anxiety, hyperactivity and sleeplessness. Like human manics, they also got an increased kick out of cocaine, sucrose, and stimulation of the medial forebrain bundle, a part of the brain implicated in addiction.
Many parents and other caregivers are try to use ADD symptoms to gain benefits for their children and themselves. Faking the symptoms of ADD allows access to medication that has high street value.

DA says parents invented girl's symptoms
Michael and Carolyn Riley were twice rejected for Supplemental Security Income after doctors with the federal program examined their daughter Rebecca and found no indication that she suffered symptoms of bipolar disorder or attention deficit disorder, Frank Middleton, an assistant Plymouth district attorney, told a judge in Plymouth Superior Court.

ADD symptoms are similar to bipolar disorder. The difference between ADD and biploar is that the chemistry is different. Children with both disorders have a hard time in school but with proper treatment or suppression of symptoms they live a productive life.

Don't misread signs of mental illness
Bipolar disorder in children has a pattern of rapid-cycling mood swings, whereas in adults the extreme highs and lows last for longer periods, Greenberg says. The irritability, inattention and aggressiveness of a bipolar child look similar to symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. But the brain chemistry behind each is different.

ADD symptoms are only being masked by medication. Not just ADD but almost every other disorder as well. The root cause of the symptom is being ignored to take care of the larger symptom of short attention span.

The Jury is in, Thimerosal and other environmental toxins found guilty.
Autism has expanded with those that exhibit similar symptoms without severity. We now refer to this as ASD or Autism Spectrum Disorders. True to science this includes ADD, ADHD, ODD etc., Neurological disorders that share symptoms yet lack equal severity.
Again, another drug created for the more serious symptoms of a disorder. In this case it is autism but the same is being seen in ADD. Many companies are creating drugs to mask the symptoms of ADD.

Antipsychotic drug controls some symptoms in autism disorder
Often diagnosed within the first three years of life, autism spectrum disorder leads to difficulties with social relationships, language and communication skills. Symptoms include withdrawal from social interactions, irritability, problems communicating and repetitive behaviors.
There is a lot of debate about whether suppressing the symptoms of ADD along with creativity and passion. The pros and cons of using medication to help a child academically but stunt his growth socially. And he doesn't believe that he needs to. The symptoms that first prompted his parents to put him on Ritalin when he was 7 -- the nonstop physical drive, the impulsiveness, the inability to focus in school -- have abated with age, he says. A stubborn restlessness of mind remains, but the ADD has changed, and so has he. Adult life has a wider range of choices than grade school offered. He hopes that if he makes the right ones, he can make it all work.
